Local lower league recap: Week of June 20

The Philadelphia Union got back into the win column on Sunday against rival NYC FC in a highly entertaining match that saw a stoppage time game winning goal for the good guys.

But that wasn’t the only local soccer action taking place over the weekend. Here at The Philly Soccer Page, we have you covered for any updates you may have missed from the local lower league soccer scene from the past week and also look ahead to next week.

Eastern Premier Soccer League (EPSL)

  • Salone FC closed out their season on a good run of form by making the EPSL final four. On Saturday, June 25 their run came to an end by way of Northern Virginia FC. The score was tied at 2 going into halftime but NoVa FC pulled away in the second half and won 6-2. NoVa FC would go on to win the EPSL championship on Sunday by defeating NY Pancyprian Freedoms.

NISA Nation

  • Saturday June 25 – Atlantic City 2-3 Union SC

Next Up:

  • ACFC close out their NISA Nation season on Thursday June 30, with an away match against New York Braveheart SC at 8 p.m.

USL League 2

  • Tuesday June 21 – West Chester United 5-0 Reading United
  • Friday June 24 – Ocean City Nor’easters 1-1 Reading United
  • Saturday June 25 – Philadelphia Lone Star 3-1 Lehigh Valley United

Next Up:

  • Ocean City and West Chester clash on Wednesday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Kildare’s Field in West Chester.
  • Ocean City are home on Friday, July 1 vs. Real Central New Jersey at 7 p.m.
  • West Chester travel to Reading on Saturday, July 2 at 7 p.m.

National Premier Soccer League (NPSL)

  • Wednesday June 22 – FC Monmouth 1-1 Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals
  • Wednesday June 22 – Hershey FC 1-2 Philadelphia Lone Star
  • Saturday June 25 – FC Motown 1-1 Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals
  • Saturday June 25 – Hershey 0-5 West Chester United

Next Up:

  • Wednesday June 29 – Jackson Lions vs. Philadelphia Lone Star at 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday July 1 – West Chester United vs. Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals at 7:30 p.m.

There are only a few games left for the NPSL Keystone Conference schedule and the top 4 teams in the standings will make the playoffs. Updated standings can be found here.

Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals are currently 6-0-3 with their last regular season game being a showdown against West Chester United on Friday. The Ukies will look to go undefeated with a win or draw.
