Philadelphia Union

In a very welcome move from yours truly — and one I’ve been clamoring for for a while — Philadelphia Union announced a new initiative to build 15 mini pitches and two full soccer fields across the city.

Meanwhile, the team’s official TV provider, 6ABC had a nice interview with Union captain Alejandro Pedroya. Nice.

Philadelphia signed Academy player Cole Turner to a pre-contract. He’ll now be with Bethlehem Steel full time for the remainder of the season.

MLS

Lots of midweek action:

Atlanta smoked Houston 5-0 after an Alberth Elis red card in the first five minutes.

The Eastern Conference might want to take notice of New England, who whooped Vancouver 4-0 behind a debut goal from new signing Gustavo Bao.

Columbus Crew scored a late goal to earn a draw with Philly’s opponent Saturday, Chicago Fire.

Toronto eeked above the thin red line thanks to a RIDICULOUS Jozy Altidore goal in a 3-1 win over New York Red Bulls.

MLS rumor rater! I personally would love to see Pavon in MLS, even if it is in Los Angeles.

A midweek, mid-year Q&A with the Armchair Analyst.

The AA and PSP favorite Bobby Warshaw recapped last night’s action, too.

USL

There have been A LOT of midweek USL games this week. Far too many to cover here.

But here’s a rundown of what went down last night.

U.S. Soccer

In case you really, really want to watch Christian Pulisic debut for Chelsea tomorrow.

Anyone know anything about Cole Turner? I believe he a ball-winning mid-fielder? Just curious.
