Hey, readers: Do you love Philly Soccer Page? Did you know that PSP is a volunteer run organization? Did you know that we still have costs to cover, like web hosting and Peter Andrews’ first-class flights across the country (he wishes)? Well, you can make a huge difference for us by making a small donation to Philly Soccer Page’s Patreon. Any and every amount helps — we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Philadelphia Union
Season previews are coming in hot! Here are the latest:
Is Power Home finally starting the promised business development at the Chester waterfront?
The Top 50 MLS prospects for 2019 includes a few Union homegrowns.
Look out for more season previews from the PSP team all week!
Bethlehem Steel
In a rematch from last year’s USL playoffs, Steel fell to Pittsburgh Riverhounds 1-0 in preseason play.
MLS
This will be endlessly entertaining or a total train wreck: Joe Hart linked with MLS move.
Three must-watch games for Week 1.
Toluca fired their manager after last week’s 3-0 thumping at the hands of Sporting Kansas City in CONCACAF Champions League.
Meanwhile, the Union’s Week 1 opponent Toronto FC is hoping for a miracle in their CCL second leg.
And here’s a preview for Houston’s next CCL match versus Guastatoya after the Dynamo took care of business on the road.
U.S. Soccer
Tobin Heath is a star. Great profile piece on Heath’s rise by Philly.com’s Jonathon Tannenwald.
ICYMI: U.S. U-20 MNT learned their World Cup group draw over the weekend. Union defenders Matt Real and Mark McKenzie look to be locks for the tournament.
In news unrelated to the above: I’m a bit surprised Brendan Rodgers is leaving Celtic early to take the job at Leicester City. I think he may actually do a pretty good job there. Leicester is a pretty good team. Should be better than 13th.

And in the file of narrative so good you couldn’t write it that way, Manchester City’s penultimate game will be to face Rodgers’ Foxes on May 4. Going to be must see TV.
After Rodgers stint at Liverpool, I’m not a fan. The amount of nonsense that came out of his mouth was amazing. Maybe he’s changed a bit since being at Celtic.
But he came so close to winning the title. Not sure where it all went wrong. Maybe it was signing Balotelli.
Issa signing for Bethlehem is good stuff. Kid’s very quick with a good nose for goal, scoring them himself or selflessly setting up his mates. His 2018 highlights from Duke are promising.
