After a great run and amid an uncertain future, Columbus Crew SC lost their second leg against Toronto FC and have been eliminated from the MLS Playoffs.
Speaking of their uncertain future, the city of Columbus is working to keep the Crew in their original home, suggesting two parks as possible sites for a new stadium.
Cincinnati, Sacramento, Detroit, and Nashville are the final four cities being considered for expansion sides. Things are looking better for FC Cincinnati, which has officially received backing from their local government.
More contract moves. Of note, D.C. United declined the options on Lloyd Sam and Sean Franklin.
Originally on load from Club Tijuana, Greg Garza has signed a multi-year deal with Atlanta United.
CONCACAF has announced its draw procedure for the Champions League. Five MLS clubs, FC Dallas, New York Red Bulls, Seattle Sounders, Toronto FC, and Colorado Rapids, are involved.
There goes my rooting interest in MLS playoffs. Box of doughnuts says Seattle wins the cup again.

What a day it was for anyone watching Premiere League games yesterday afternoon. Was watching City at work and yelled a bit too loud when Sterling curled in the winner in stoppage time. Caught Rooney’s heroics for Everton in replay. If you haven’t seen it, check out his goal from midfield.

that Sterling goal was a thing of beauty.
i was streaming at work as well. just in awe of the finish and the ending
City has been such a joy to watch this season. The passing, the runs, Ederson in goal, Sterling’s pace. I’ve been trying to catch every match, CL included. Anyone who wants to watch football at the highest level of evolution, that’s your team right now.
after the brutal dismissal of Joe Hart and Pep’s Bravo segue, Ederson is a breath of fresh air.
agreed on the fun aspect. 95’+ and i’m still like “they could do it.” unbelievable.
de Bruyne worth every penny.
You are all correct about City, except Southampton gifted them that first goal. How do you put one in a wall, 20 yards out…..doesn’t matter where, with De Bruyne on the ball? I’ve seen HS teams defend sets better than that! As long as they don’t beat The Invincibles record……….December crunch should take care of that! And what Pep did with Redmund after the match crossed a line………
It’ll be really tough to go unbeaten all year — and City have looked plenty vulnerable in the last couple of matches — but it’s conceivable they can get it done. They certainly have the squad to make a run at it.
Pete, of course they have the squad to do it……..they spent more than most nations’ GDPs………..that’s why I think Pep is kind of a fraud!
from what i see, he and Pep are saying nothing bad in the exchange. it looked bad, but Pep is super animated.
He was telling Redmund they have a good side and shouldn’t have parked the bus and had a go at it instead……..something you say to the gaffer, not the players….
I’m looking at the positives today today today. Looking at the positives positives positives today.

Let’s see, a list then…alright here goes. There’s— uh,

What’s your take on the Sugarman press of late?
Well, I echo Eric Wynalda’s sentiment from his most recent podcast guest appearance,
.
Anytime someone tells you, ‘we’re gonna figure this out,’ it means they are stalling and you are being lied to. I compare it similarly to a person’s inability to argue well when they use the words, ‘you know what I mean’ or ‘like’
.
You’re discernment?

Columbus had so many chances… Should have gotten that away goal but Camara and the Iraqi just totally blew some easy chances. Especially in the first half Columbus looked so much better than Toronto: was a joy to see them pass and hustle their buts of to win the ball back. Wish they had won.
.
Listened to Bobby Warshaw’s latest podcast; is fascinating! Not just about x’s and 0’s but about life as a soccer player and so much more.
Just a clarification- “the Iraqi” Justin Meram is an American citizen born in Michigan who has dual citizenship
