Philadelphia Union

The Union were done in by dead balls according to Philly Voice‘s weekly analysis and player ratings.

Andre Blake has been called up by Jamaica for their June 13th friendly versus Peru in Lima.

Call-ups, injuries, lineup tweaks see the Union limping into the international break.

Major League Soccer

Six takeaways from Week 14. 11 moments that stood out. And the four biggest unanswered questions across the league going going into the break.

As some PSP contributors have similarly investigated, why is home field advantage so much stronger in MLS than other top leagues? (ICYMI: Home sides went undefeated over the past weekend.)

Soccer America’s weekly power rankings.

NWSL

Mallory Pugh (!) scored her first professional goal for the Washington Spirit in a 2-0 win over the Houston Dash.

A recap of all the action from Week 8. And 15 things you may have missed.

Everything else in women’s soccer this week, including the Hope Solo media transition.

USL

A USL rewind across the league.

Didier Drogba is slated to make his Phoenix Rising debut (never thought I’d type that sentence) on Saturday.

U.S. Soccer

Is it bad that the USMNT is already so reliant on an 18-year-old? (Pulisic[!].)

The USMNT is still feeling themselves out under Bruce Arena.

Arena also threw a little shade at former manager Jurgen Klinsmann’s call-ups, go figure.

On the other hand, Arena’s squad selection made a statement and showed his cards a bit.

Derrick Jones is among five players who impressed at the U-20 World Cup.

  1. Derrick Jones: “He needs to work on his decision-making first and foremost. That was the one aspect of his game that was a little bit lacking. If that improves, he could be one helluva prospect going forward for the USA.” This has been an issue with him ever since I saw him play 5 yrs ago. Hopefully this will soon become a non-issue!

    el Poacher,
    .
I was just saying the other day how reliant this National Team already seems to be on Pulisic- go figure. “Literally. Everything.”
    .
What’s more…. being that oblivious person everyone knows who Trumps every story a person tells with their own… man that’s so annoying.
    .
How’s the glass house coming along?

  3. Does anything reflect the deep apathy around this team more than how quiet it’s been on this site lately? And to be clear, I’m talking about comments not the steady stream of good articles found here.

What’s there to talk about? Rehash the same 5 topics we’ve all fought over since 2010 or even since Curtin took over? I can list some jumping off points if you’d like to stir the pot? Usually El P is good for a discussion or two.

      • I get that, but the same old crap didn’t stop the discussion here before.

It’s a direct relation to the apathetic nature of this team. They sucked for 2 months. Then were very good for a month. And now appear to suck again. I don’t know. It’s just getting hard to spur discussion when you know no new players are coming in. It’s the same 11 out there (pretty much) game in and game out. You get (basically) the same result every game. Something has got to happen with this boring team.

Well, I haven’t been able to post using my phone for a week or two due to a persistent spam/redirect that prevented me from clicking/tapping anything.
      .
Different phone browsers seem to react differently. Unless I am at an actual computer, I don’t bother trying. And I’m rarely at a computer when I get home.
      .
It sounds like others have had similar issues, judging from a comment or two last week.

Sugarman doesn’t care so why should anyone else?

  4. After all is said, I still say we get 7 or 9 points on our 3 game homestand after the Int’l break. 6-6-5 at the half way point maybe. Unfortunately we’re not good enough right now to have any consistency on the road.

    • John Harris says:

Do you think that the road problems might be because, in some measure, Curtain only plays for a draw on the road? I think some part of the toad trouble is that attitude and it’s strategy effects.

  5. John P. O'Donnell Jr says:

Well there is an elephant in the room so I’ll stir the pot. Where does Joshua Sargent end up? Sporting Kansas City has his homegrown rights even though he has never been in their academy. That should do it.
