Zach Pfeffer and Zack Steffen continue to represent the US U-20 Men’s National Team with pride.
After going undefeated in the group stage, the squad found themselves up against a talented Fluminese side in the semifinals of the Dallas Cup. Despite missing a few key starters due to club call-ups and going down a man early in the second half, the US was able to win in overtime. Pfeffer logged 90 minutes and recorded his second assist of the tournament in the victory.
The championship final would end up being a rematch of the opening game against River Plate. Steffen was given the nod in net, but unfortunately the result didn’t go in favor of the stars and stripes. The game ended 2-0 in favor of River Plate, as Ramos described his boys as “out of gas.”
Regardless of the ending, both Pfeffer and Steffen were integral parts of the team’s success and are sure to receive more call-ups in the future.
