Philadelphians Abroad: Herzog scores, Schuler out at Hammarby, Allen headed to DC?

After lighting up the USL PRO last year on loan from New York, Reading native Corey Hertzog is once again finding the back of the net while on loan. Despite being picked up by the Vancouver Whitecaps in the off season, Hertzog saw limited time with Vancouver with just seven appearances, scoring one goal and one assist. Last week Vancouver sent the youngster out on loan to NASL side FC Edmonton for the remainder of their season.

As he had with the Wilmington Hammerheads last year, Hertzog quickly set to work for his temporary team. Just 16 minutes into his premiere with the Eddies, Herzog managed to slip one past the opposing San Antonio goalkeeper (fellow local Pat Hannigan) to give his side the 1-0 lead. The tally would prove enough for Edmonton with the score remaining unchanged until the final whistle and would earn Herzog a place on the NASL’s Team of the Week.

In player movement news, it seems like Allentown, N.J. native Billy Schuler may be on his way out of Swedish side Hammarby IF, as reports are surfacing that he will not be re-signed when his contract expires. After skipping the MLS SuperDraft last year to try his luck in Sweden with American coach ‎Gregg Berhalter, the forward got off to a slow start with Hammarby, scoring only two goals in 26 appearances. With his former coach being shown the door last month, it appears that the lad who was once projected as an early draft pick will soon be looking for work.

Finally, it seems former PDA talent R.J. Allen of Marlboro, N.J. may be making a move stateside. After the defender started strongly in the first half of the year with Danish team Skive IK, making 12 appearances (including 11 starts) and scoring one goal, Allen tweeted on Sunday:
