Darlington Nagbe is one of the top young players in MLS, and he is this week’s guest on the KYW Philly Soccer Show, co-hosted by KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch.

Nagbe is having a career year for the Portland Timbers with five goals and three assists. He talks about what it’s like playing for his college coach, Caleb Porter, who took the head coaching job at Portland this year. The Timbers, in second place in the Western Conference with a 8-2-9 record, travel to Philadelphia to face the Union this Saturday at PPL Park at 7:30pm (TCN, Direct Kick, MLS Live).

Greg and Eli then look back at the Union’s water logged home win against Chivas USA. Torrential rain turned the pitch at PPL into a swamp due to last Friday, but the Union slogged through for a spirited, come-from-behind 3-1 win.

Also discussed is the Gold Cup where the US finished top of their group after a nervy 1-0 win over Costa Rica on Tuesday and will face El Salvador in the quarterfinals in Baltimore on Sunday.
