KYW Philly Soccer Show: John Hackworth

The Philadelphia Union have a lot of work to do in the off season, and their head coach discusses some of the team’s plans on the KYW Philly Soccer Show.

This week, KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP writer Mike Servedio are joined by Union coach John Hackworth.

In part one, the Union’s boss gave some candid answers about several topics affecting the team.

He addressed the future of struggling star forward, Freddy Adu, saying he hopes the player stays with the team in the 2013 season. He also talked about the need for an experience goal scorer and the possibility of a veteran goalkeeper coming to help mentor and back up starter Zac MacMath.

In part two, co-host Mike Servedio looks at the hiring of Tom Sermanni as head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team.

The Scotsman is coming to the states after a long stint with the Australian Women’s National Team. We look at what this means for some of the veteran players, will Sermanni likely looking to bring some youth to bolster the team’s aging core.
