This past weekend marked the beginning of regular season play for Saint Joseph’s, Villanova, La Salle and Drexel. Saint Joseph’s won their first match at home on Friday night with a win in overtime against Hartwick. Jimmy Reilly and Tommy Brooks each scored a goal to earn the 2-1 win for the Hawks.
Villanova started the 2012 season off with a strong 5-1 win at Manhattan. The Wildcats offense stepped up with goals from Kyle Soroka, Emerson Lawrence, Oscar Umar, Ryan Whalen and Damilola Adetola.
La Salle played their first match at home Saturday evening against local rival Drexel. The Explorers beat the Dragons 3-2 in overtime with goals from Jason Plumhoff, Mike Stanton and Joe Farrell. Malcolm LeBourne and Fabio Machado each scored a goal for Drexel.
