Following a tweet from player agent Richard Motzkin that announced Danny Mwanga would be training with Aston Villa for ten days, the Philadelphia Union confirmed that the striker will miss the team’s first preseason session.
According to the Union, Mwanga “will join his teammates in Orlando on February 6, in time for the start of the Union’s second leg of preseason.”
Mwanga is the seventh Union player to train in Europe this offseason. Amobi Okugo and Zach Pfeffer went to Germany, Zac MacMath, Michael Farfan and Sebastien Le Toux spent time in England, and Freddy Adu had a stint with Rayo Vallecano in Spain.
If Motzkin’s name sounds familiar, it might be because he represents a little playmaker named Freddy Adu.
