The Philadelphia Independence will hold open Tryouts January 27-28, 2011 at United Sports Training Center in Downingtown.

A press release on the Independence website says, “This tryout event allows the Independence coaches to evaluate potential picks before January’s WPS College Draft, while also giving free agents or players who were not picked in last year’s draft the opportunity to earn a spot on the Independence roster. Regardless of a player’s current status, they are invited to United Sports to compete in tryouts.

Interested players are required to pay a $100 participation fee.

Players will participate in tactical and technical training sessions and compete in a series of small sided and full field games. The tryout is open to any player that completes and returns the required forms and is at least age 18 as of March 1, 2011.
