Harrisburg City Islanders / USL

Islanders draw 1-1 with Pittsburgh, Open Cup Tuesday

The City Islanders managed a late equalizer Friday night against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the 85th minute, courtesy of Nick Zimmerman. Zimmerman cleaned up a rebound and tied the score as the Islanders had moved to an aggressive formation after several substitutions in the waning minutes. This is Zimmerman’s second goal for the Islanders this season and his second that earned the club points. The contest was back and forth throughout with Danny Cepero making several clutch saves to keep the Islanders in the game. JT Noone continues to show well for the Islanders in central midfield and has developed good chemistry with Islanders midfielder Jason Pelletier. Look for the short loan stints to Harrisburg to continue for Union players and for the Islanders to keep improving as their young team progresses.
