  1. Ed Farnsworth says:

In case anyone is wondering, the award is named in honor of Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskás, captain of the legendary Hungary team of the 1950s known as the Mighty Magyars and member of Real Madrid from 1958 until 1966. Nicknamed “the Galloping Major,” Puskás died in 2006 aged 79. 2009 is the first year the award has been given.

  2. Ronaldo’s goal was great, but I’d have given it to Grafite. The way he dismantled an entire team was just sick.
