Anderson Monarchs film passes fundraising target
Fundraising efforts surpassed the $25,000 target on Wednesday to beat Thursday’s deadline thanks to a contribution from the Sons of Ben. Now, director Eugene Martin has the money necessary to finish his film about the nation’s only all-African-American, inner city girls soccer club, which is based in South Philadelphia.

The PSP talks with Eugene Martin, director of the forthcoming film, The Anderson Monarchs. Hailing from South Philadelphia, the Anderson Monarchs are the only all-girl, African-American soccer team in the US. Nominated for Sports Team of the Year in Sports Illustrated in 2008, the Guardian said they might be the most important sports team in the U.S.
