The Philadelphia Union hit the road for the second straight week, heading north to face CF Montréal in a Saturday afternoon clash at Stade Saputo. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. on Apple TV, with both sides still searching for momentum early in the 2026 MLS campaign.
For Montréal, it’s a long-awaited home opener after six straight matches away to start the season. For Philadelphia, it’s another chance to finally turn performances into points after a difficult opening stretch.
Scouting Report: CF Montréal
CF Montréal goes into their home opener still searching for consistency after opening the season with six straight matches on the road. Under Marco Donadel, in his first season at the helm, the club has picked up just three points so far.
The attacking production has been concentrated, yet effective, with Prince Owusu and Wiki Carmona responsible for all seven of the team’s goals so far this season. Both have shown an ability to exploit space and create chances, particularly in transition.
There’s also a boost in midfield, as Frankie Amaya recently joined on loan from back-to-back LIGA MX champions Deportivo Toluca. The 25-year-old former US youth international is on loan through the end of the 2026 season, and is expected to add energy and depth.
Defensively, however, Montréal has struggled to keep games under control. The club has conceded 17 goals overall, including nine in its last three matches. With the emotion of a home opener and historically positive results at Stade Saputo, Montréal will look to set the tone early.

Scouting Report: Philadelphia Union
It’s been a less than ideal start for Philadelphia Union and second year head coach Bradley Carnell. Through six matches, the Union sit at 0-0-6, still searching for their first point of the MLS season.
The attack has struggled to find rhythm, scoring just four goals, and perhaps most notably, never playing with a lead. That’s forced the team into a reactive role for most of their minutes, a stark contrast from the high-pressing, front-foot identity they’ve been known for.
Still, there have been glimpses of hope. Danley Jean Jacque’s second-half equalizer against Charlotte showed the kind of energy and directness the team needs more consistently.
This week, the message for the Boys in Blue is clear: stay resilient, clean up mistakes, and trust the process. Saturday offers them the opportunity to shift the narrative and provide tangible results, as urgency quickly becomes a defining factor for their season.

Matchup to Watch: Philadelphia’s press vs. Montréal’s back line
This match could come down to whether Philadelphia Union can finally impose its identity. Carnell’s system, built on aggressive, high press, hasn’t translated into results this season.
That creates an opportunity against a CF Montréal defense that has shown vulnerability, particularly under sustained pressure. If Philadelphia can disrupt build-up play and capitalize on mistakes, it could finally swing momentum in their favor.
On the flip side, Montréal’s ability to break pressure and spring forward quickly could turn those same moments into chances the other way.
Player to Watch: Bruno Damiani
Prediction: Union 2 – 1 CF Montréal
Expect a tight game, but one where the Union’s persistence finally pays off with their first win of the season.
