The Photographers of PSP

(Photo by Kyle Grantham/The Philly Soccer Page)

We are making sure our cameras and lenses are ready for the kick-off of the Philadelphia Union’s 16th Season! The 2026 regular season starts out with an away game vs DC United at Audi Field on February 21st. With the Concacaf Champions Cup series starting a few days before, on February 18th at The Hasely Crawford Stadium, located in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. With 36 scheduled games on the posted schedule, we wanted to introduce our team of photographers that bring the game to life in still images and telling the story of the games in our Photo Essays.

Kevin Barrett

Kevin was hooked on photography from the first time he picked up a Kodak disc camera. His journey jumped from see it shoot it to landscape and now to sports. The best part of his journey is making new friends every step of the way.

Being part of PSP outside of the games has allowed me to make new friendships with many other great people behind the scenes of the game.

Marjorie Elzey

Marjorie’s photography journey began as an event floral designer when she purchased her first DSLR to build her portfolio. After becoming a mom, she stepped back for a time, but as her three boys grew and fell in love with soccer, she picked up her camera again — starting her journey into sports photography on recreational and club soccer fields, eventually joining the PSP team.

In 2018, an unexpected conversation gave her a chance to photograph from the sidelines at her first Union match. Since joining The Philly Soccer Page in May 2019, she’s covered the Union through the Concacaf Champions Cup, Leagues Cup, U.S. Open Cup, Army-Navy and playoffs, along with Eastern Conference Championship runs. She’s also covered the U.S. Women’s National Team, the “SheBelieves Cup” and continues to document local high school, club soccer and semi-pro games.

Marjorie is grateful for the experience working from the sidelines brings – creating friendships with other photographers, developing her style and learning that telling a visual story is so much more than just, “taking pictures.” Bringing the highs and lows, the intensity of moments to her essays helps tell the story of the game that fans may not see from the stands or on TV.

Matches like the legendary “Ilsinho game,” rivalries with the Red Bulls and NYCFC, the COVID season, and the dramatic 2021 playoff run filled with game ending PK’s, and the Miami game are a few of her favorite essays. Images like Andre Blake’s iconic PK save against Muktar, the atmosphere against Club América, and sharing special moments with her family at games, including capturing their favorite MLS and international players, are memories she will always treasure.

Paul Rudderow

Paul Rudderow started with PSP back in 2010. At first, PSP used a couple of photos in articles, but Paul published his first photo essay on September 6, 2010 following the Union’s match against the then Kansas City Wizards.

Being recruited by PSP to be one of their photographers was by pure chance. Paul is a Union Founding Member and continue to be a season ticket holder, bringing his old Canon Rebel into the Linc for the first couple of games the Union played. He captured some nice photos from the stands and posted them on Flickr in a group called Philadelphia Soccer. It turned out that this group was created by PSP and the site’s leadership asked if they could use Paul’s photos for the website.

By June, Paul was on the sidelines volunteering for the website. Paul upgraded his gear and now has 149 posts and over 4,200 photos on the website and has covered the Union, Bethlehem Steel, USMNT, USWNT, International Friendlies, Club Friendlies, Army-Navy, Fever, Fury, City Islanders, Reading United and Casa Cup finals.

Paul has been PSP’s Photo Editor for a number of years and herds the cats with cameras.

Ron Soliman

Ron Soliman is a documentary photographer with over 20 years behind the camera and plenty of miles on his press credential. He’s worked for major newspapers around the country, including Gannett and the Los Angeles Times, covering just about every pro sport imaginable—from the NFL and NBA to MLB, PGA Tour, and MLS.

These days, Ron shoots sports because he loves it—and because soccer never disappoints. It’s fast, emotional, unpredictable, and the sidelines are always entertaining. In Philly, that usually means loud fans, nonstop energy, and no shortage of emotions to photograph (good and bad).

When he’s not shooting sports, Ron is a destination wedding and travel photographer, bringing the same documentary approach to weddings around the world. He’s been shooting for Philly Soccer Page for the fun to it for the past couple of years and has been a Canon pro for more than 20 years.
