The US Men’s National Team carries a three-game unbeaten streak as it takes the field at Subaru Park against a Paraguay side tomorrow that has qualified for their first World Cup since 2010. FIFA’s ranking has UMNT pegged at 16th and Paraguay at 39th.

Both sides, while looking for a result, will want to see which players on the cusp of inclusion for the World Cup squad will step up. Gio Reyna, Tanner Tessman, along with former Union players Auston Trusty and Brendan Aaronson are hoping to prove they can make the cut. Jack McGlynn and Quinn Sulivan remain unavailable through injury.

There were no current Union members called into camp. Both Cavan Sullivan and Nathan Harriel’s names were not included in ‘s pool of 26 players.

This match will be the US and Paraguay’s first meeting since an international friendly in November 2018.

Scouting Report, USMNT (8W-6L-2D in 2025)

The biggest headline is that Pochettino has recalled Gio Reyna, while the likes of Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah, Malik Tillman, Antonee Robinson, Sean Zawadzki, and Chris Richards will be missing due to a mixture of injuries. Pochettino likely knows that those players are part of his squad for the 2026 World Cup, all being fit, so this friendly–for both the US and Paraguay–is about players on the cusp. Reyna, who has not seen many minutes with his club team will see this as an opportunity to prove himself to Pochettino and answer questions about his attitude and fitness. When playing well, Reyna can deliver MVP performances, as he did in last year’s CONCACAF Nations League.

Pochettino will also want to take a look at former Union defender, Auston Trusty, who returns to Chester tomorrow. He has been playing well for Glasgow Celtic, featuring positively in the Scottish Premier League, the League Cup and Europa Cup action. Will he and Ream be a good pairing in the back? Aaronson has been a stand out for a struggling Leeds side, and he has showed an attacking edge to his game, which could be a pathway to World Cup minutes.

The US is unbeaten in their last three games, going 2W-0L-1D against World Cup-bound opposition. In that time, the US has scored 26 goals and conceded 20.

The keys to the match will be, whether the defense hold firm against a high-pressing, fast-breaking Paraguay side; and can Reyna and Tanner Tessman provide the vision and passing that will allow Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi, and Diego Luna up top to net a few more against a stingy Paraguay side?

Sergiño Dest returns to the side, too, as a winger, and fans will want to see if his wide play and passing can open up a stout defense. The 3-4-2-1 formation has worked well. If “Poch” stays with three at the back versus Paraguay, we might see:

Scouting Report, Paraguay (3W-2L-3D in 2025)

Los Guaraníes have qualified for the World Cup, and, like the US team, they will be looking for standout additions. Coach Gustavo Alfaro alternates between a 4-4-2 and a 4-2-3-1. His side are physical and energetic in the press, and are swift on the counter, using quick, incisive passes in the final third. Their defense is helmed by stalwart defenders, like Omar Alderete, whose accurate, long-range passes can be employed to bypass a high press; and Gustavo Gómez, who is not only physical and solid in defense, but is the top-scoring defender for his club team, Palmeiras. Up top, Miguel Almirón is canny and always a threat. He is one of their most experienced players, scoring nine times in 71 appearances.

Prediction: USMNT 2 – 1 Paraguay

The USMNT will follow up this game on three days rest to play 15th ranked Uruguay on Monday, November 18, 2025, at 7:00 PM EST, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
