Saturday’s match against the New England Revolution saw a massive turn in form for the Boys in Blue, as Tai Baribo netted a hat trick to return the team to the win column. Cavan Sullivan also made his debut at the age of 14 years old.

Onto the rankings…

Player ratings:

Andre Blake – 7

Not much Blake could have done on the lone goal against in his first game back. Hopefully his return brings the defense back into form.

Kai Wagner – 8

A good night for Wagner who was effective getting into the attack and recovering defensively.

Jack Elliott – 7

Not a bad outing for the central defender only allowing one goal. A nice return to form after a tough stretch.

Jakob Glesnes – 7

Similarly to Elliott, only one goal given up and a a hopeful return to form.

Oliver Mbaizo– 6

An okay outing for Mbazio in his return to the starting lineup. Does well getting into the attack but can be more responsible defensively.

Leon Flach – 6

There’s nothing flashy about Flach’s game, which we’ve know for a while now. Covering ground, putting in tackles and connecting passes is what he provided all night.

Jose Martinez- 8

A classic El Brujo showing in his return from Copa America. Providing tackles and slowing down the opposition all game.

Alejandro Bedoya– 7

A good shift of putting in runs and linking passes. Not much more you could want from the elder captain.

Daniel Gazdag – 7

A good night of linking passes together and getting the attack going. Hopefully more chemistry forming in the front three to build on.

Mikael Uhre- 7

Lots of attacking runs provided by Uhre and good link up play allowing Tai Baribo to find open space.

Tai Baribo – 10

A hat trick from the striker is very promising for Union fans. Baribo has been gaining more confidence as of late and looks to be the most potent attacker in the lineup.

Substitutes:

Jesus Bueno – 6

Not much chance creation for Bueno and was brought on as a defensive sub late in the game.

Quinn Sullivan  – 7

Brought on new energy late in the game and scored a beautiful goal to show with it.

Cavan Sullivan – N/A

A debut for the youngster and a start to professional soccer life.

Geiger Counter:

Rubiel Vazquez – 6

Typically, if you don’t notice the referee, it means they’re doing a good job. No complaints about the center man on the night.

Player of the Match: Tai Baribo

A hat trick for the striker to continue a good run of form that Union fans are hoping continues to turn the teams season around.
