Local lower league recap: Week of June 13

After last week’s CASA-focused recap, we now return to our regularly scheduled updates as we move into the Summer soccer season. Some team’s Spring seasons have concluded but there is still plenty of local lower league soccer action still taking place. Let’s take a look back at the week of June 13 and keep you up to date.

Eastern Premier Soccer League (EPSL)

  • Salone FC advanced to the EPSL final four by winning the Delaware River Conference playoffs.
    • On June 17, they beat Real Central NJ in the first round of the playoffs then defeated International New Jersey on June 19 to claim the Delaware River Conference trophy. They’ll look to win the EPSL title next as the final four takes place over the upcoming weekend.

United Premier Soccer League (UPSL)

  • Philadelphia Lone Star’s UPSL season comes to an end with a loss in the playoffs to Queensboro FC II on June 18.
    • The Stars did win their first round playoff matchup against Suffolk County FC on June 16, but couldn’t advance past Queensboro in the UPSL Northeast American division playoffs.

NISA Nation

  • Sunday, June 19 – Atlantic City FC 5-1 Allentown United
    • ACFC have two NISA Nation games left with the next one taking place on Saturday June 25 vs Union SC at 5 p.m. at Rowan University.

USL League 2

  • Philadelphia Lone Star lost both of their games last week; a 5-1 loss to West Chester United on June 14 and a 5-4 loss against Real Central New Jersey.
    • The Stars will look to bounce back on June 25 vs Lehigh United at 7 p.m. at South Philly Super Site.
  • Ocean City Nor’easters won both of their games last week; a 1-0 win vs Reading United on June 17 and a 5-2 win against Real Central New Jersey on June 19.
    • The Nor’easters currently sit top of the table, with their next game on June 24 vs Reading United at 7 p.m. at Carey Stadium in Ocean City, N.J.
  • West Chester United defeated Philadelphia Lone Star 5-1 on June 14.
    • West Chester plays next on June 21 vs Reading United.

National Premier Soccer League (NPSL)

  • Atlantic City FC lost 3-2 to PA Classics on June 15 and won 3-2 against Jackson Lions on June 18.
  • Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals are still undefeated after 7 games. They won 3-1 vs Hershey FC on June 15 and played a 1-1 draw against Electric City Shock on June 19.
    • Ukrainian Nationals sit top of the table in the stacked NPSL Keystone Conference with a 6-0-1 record.
    • Next up for the Ukies will be June 22 at FC Monmouth at 7 p.m. and June 25 at FC Motown at 7 p.m.
  • Philadelphia Lone Star lost 5-2 to PA Classics on June 18.
    • Lone Star will play June 22 at Hershey FC at 7 p.m. and June 26 at Electric City Shock at 2 p.m.

Final notes

Congratulations to West Chester United for bringing home some silverware for their trophy case by winning the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) Region 1 title in the Werner Fricker Open Cup. They defeated Jackson Lions in penalty kicks to win the title. They will now advance to the national final four of the Werner Fricker Open Cup which will be played in August.
