New Philadelphia Union midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta joins KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch in the latest edition of the KYW Philly Soccer Show.
Barnetta comes to the team with quite the resume, with a long career in Germany and 75 appearances for Switzerland including 3 trips to World Cups.
The Swiss international talks to Greg and Eli about his journey from the German Bundesliga to MLS and the Union. Barnetta also talks about the difficulty of coming into a team in the middle of their season, while he hasn’t played since the Bundesliga season ended in May.
Greg and Eli then talk about this evening’s US Open Cup semifinal at PPL Park against Chicago Fire. If the Union win, they will reach the Cup final for the second straight year.

For the record, Blake will not cost the Union an international spot since he got his green card last month.
Duh! Dumb on my part. Thanks for the reminder.
Eli it’s only by being Spot Off on occasion that we are able to recognize how often you are Spot On.
I know it isn’t you guys, but is there a way to coordinate with the post-production people to ensure that the tail of the opening music doesn’t drown out the guest on the phone?
Otherwise…love the pod.
