There’s no rest for the Philadelphia Union this weekend.
After fighting hard against the Seattle Sounders in a losing effort in the US Open Cup final on Tuesday, the Union face the Houston Dynamo at PPL Park Saturday (7 pm, TCN, MLS Live, MLS Direct Kick). Both teams are in a fight for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Dynamo are making their usual late surge towards to the playoffs and to get you ready for Saturday’s contest, KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch talk with Dynamo defender , and Harrisburg-area native David Horst in the latest edition of the KYW Philly Soccer Show.
After that, Greg and Eli breakdown the US Open Cup final. The Union fought valiantly against the powerhouse Sounders, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime thanks to a Maurice Edu header. But Seattle proved to be too strong, taking the match and the Cup with a 3-1 victory in extra time.
Greg and Eli talk about the ups and downs of the biggest match in Philadelphia Union history.

Excellent pod gentlemen. The analysis was spot on. Hoping JC and staff listened. JC has to play his best XI. To not play Edu at CB and Okugo at HM may not have cost the Union the cup but it didn’t put them in their most advantageous position to win it. At some point during the post game I’d hoped someone would have pinned JC down and asked why? That was his Hackworth moment. One thing the Union must do is add quality subs and roster depth.Being good enough fothe union bench does not qualify you for MLS rosters The drop off is too great.
I think the Union win 2-0.
