Philadelphians Abroad: Warshaw scores in first Swedish league start

Photo: Paul Rudderow

While it was a slow week overall for our local boys, one bright spot shone in Scandanivia, where Mechanicsburg, PA native Bobby Warshaw made his league debut for Swedish team Ängelholms FF last Wednesday. Sliding in as a center back, Warshaw quickly repaid the Swedish side for risk they took on him.  Tied 1-1 at the half, Warshaw put his temporary team ahead  in the 79th minute with a left footed shot off of a cross from teammate Andreas Grahm. While the lead would not last and opponents GIF Sundsvall would equalize just three minutes later, Warshaw’s effort was sufficient to earn the new guy another start in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Varberg BOIS FC.
