The Philadelphia Union announced on Sunday evening that Peter Vermes has selected Jack McInerney for the 2013 MLS All-Star team that will face Roma on Wednesday in Kansas City (9:00 pm, ESPN2, UniMas).
McInerney replaces Red Bull midfielder Tim Cahill, who was injured in New York’s come-from-behind 4-3 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
The Union forward, who turns 21 on August 5, recently returned to the club after receiving his first senior call-up from the US Men’s National Team for the Gold Cup squad.
About goddamn time!!
Damn, guess that means I’ll have to watch.
I mean Jack has really tapered off the last month and a half. Hasn’t really deserved it.
As opposed to players like Wondo or Donovan, who haven’t deserved it for the whole season.
hahaha
Right Wondo got it based on last year and Donovn based on his last name. Donovan missed the first 2 months of this season for F— sake!!!
Congrats Jack. He was player of the month in both April and May. However, in my mind, Connor Casey is the real All Star. And last night’s game without him I think really proved the point.
So does that mean that we’ll see Wheeler play one half at forward and the other at centerback?
Well deserved, and I’m glad Vermes picked this replacement over Garber. Hopefully he gets minutes.
