The Philadelphia Union look to get back to their winning ways, but face a tough test against rival DC United, and the KYW Philly Soccer Show gets you ready for it!
This week KYW’s Greg Orlandini talks with Union assistant coach Brendan Burke.
Along with his responsibilities with the senior team, Burke also coaches the reserve team and is involved with youth academy. Additionally, Burke is the head coach of Union affiliate Reading United.
Greg and Brendan discuss what the coaching staff has been doing to try to increase the team’s offensive output, which has seen the team score only three times in the last five games.
Burke also discusses the future of player development in the US. He envisions the academy system taking hold, where youth players would live at team facilities, going to school and learning the game for ten months out of the year.
