Match Preview

Junior Lone Star FC enters tonight’s home contest placed fifth in the Keystone Conference. The Stars are looking for their first win after two losses during the opening weekend of their inaugural season.

On Friday, May 18, 2012, the Stars lost 0-2 away to FC Sonic in their league opener before losing 3-4 away to AC Crusaders in a heart-breaking fashion on Sunday, May 20, 2012. Dan Doe equalized for the Stars while Menuh Wiah put the Stars ahead in the first half of the match but the Crusaders scored two goals in the space of a minute to re-take the lead. Midfielder Fatoma Turay thought he had secured a point for the Stars in the 81st minute only to see the Stars concede a very late goal to lose 3-4 in their second league match. Scheduled matches against Pocono Snow and Jersey City Eagles were both postponed due to extreme weather conditions.

This will be Buxmont Torch’s first game of the season. The Torch finished last season, their first in the NPSL, with a 2-10-0 record thereby finishing second to bottom in the Keystone Conference. The Torch prepared for this season by traveling for a pre-season trip to Mexico where they lost both games.

Players to Watch

Midfielder Fatoma Turay has been a revelation for the Stars this season. He came on as a substitute for the injured Jerome Pour in the first match and has since been the best player for the Stars in both games. Turay was a stand-out player at Wilmington University where he was selected in the 2009 NCAA Daktronics East Men’s Soccer First Team as well as All-Conference Selection. His amazing runs and defense-splitting passes have been a joy to see. Turay was named as player of the match against AC Crusaders after scoring a wonderful goal.

Midfielder Juan Nino is considered one of the best players on Buxmont Torch. Nino, a standout player at Liberty University, is an expert in free kicks. He scored twice for Buxmont Torch during their pre-season in Mexico.
