In the latest installment of the Philly Soccer Show Podcast, KYW’s Greg Orlandini is joined by Philly Soccer Page writers Adam Cann and Eli Pearlman-Storch to discuss the Expansion Draft, the MLS Cup and the recent USMNT friendlies against France and Slovenia.
In part one, the topic is the Expansion Draft. The Philadelphia Union have to protect 11 players next week as the newest MLS team—the Montreal Impact—look to round out their roster. Greg, Adam and Eli take a look at who should be protected, who might be on the outside looking in, and why.
In part two, the discussion turns to Sunday’s MLS Cup Final between he LA Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo. The guys give their predictions and discuss the logic, or lack of logic, of putting a Cup Final in the same time slot as NFL Sunday night football.
In part three, the talk turns to the USMNT abd the recent friendlies. The USA men dropped a tough-fought match in France, 1–0, and defeated Slovenia 3–2 a wild, wide open affair. The formation changes made between the two matches by USA coach Jurgen Klinnsman are discussed. Also, the pod looks ahead to who will get the call for the January training camp.
