Preview: USMNT v Belize
While the shellacking of Guatemala may have put visions of sugar plums in many fans’ heads, tournament soccer is a different animal than international friendlies, even against the likes of Belize.

After a slow start and some timely substitutions, the U.S. swept Guatemala aside in some style, 6–0 in the warmup game for the Gold Cup.
Coach Jurgen Klinsmann needs to learn a lot about the crew he has in a very short amount of time. The Gold Cup warmup game against Guatemala should help.
The US roster for the Gold Cup has been announced and Jack McInerney is on it. Jurgen Klinsmann says McInerney “is in good hands in Philadelphia” and that John Hackworth gave “great input” on his selection.
Another goal from the suddenly on fire Jozy Altidore helped the US grab all 9 points on offer over their most recent string of qualifiers.
With the U.S. riding a three-game winning streak (including the 4–3 friendly victory over Germany), and what promises to be a lively home support in Rio Tinto, the home team is the clear favorite.
The USMNT put together perhaps their most complete performance of the Jurgen Klinsmann era, and soundly defeated Panama 2–0 to move to the top of the Hex.
Even without two key players from Friday night’s win over Jamaica, the US is still a better team than Panama.
The US picked up three big points in their quest to qualify for the 2014 World Cup with a first half goal from Jozy Altidore and stoppage time winner from Brad Davis.
With Jamaica needing a win, expect the Jamaican team to come out very strong from the opening whistle.
