It started in March, lasted 34 games, and saw a lot of highs and lows.
And now, for the Philadelphia Union, the 2013 season is over. The team fell short of the playoffs for the second straight year.
This week on the Philly Soccer Show podcast, we look at what went right and what went wrong.
KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch are joined by Philly.com‘s Jonathan Tannenwald to review the 2013 season.
The Union did improve on last year’s terrible season, finishing with 46 points in the standings and with their highest-ever win total (12). But the team struggled through the final months of the season, and as their offense disappeared, the postseason slipped from view.
Among the topics discussed are which players are likely to stay and who may go. Also discussed is the MLS Draft, which will be held in Philadelphia in January.
The Union has four picks in the first two rounds of the draft, including the second pick overall.
The show concludes with Greg, Eli, and Jonathan’s picks for the MLS postseason.
