If you needed any more motivation for Sunday’s playoff match.

Anthony Fontana still legally can’t drink alcohol.

The Union have several players and their coach up for season awards:

Jim Curtin a finalist for Coach of the Year.

Brenden Aaronson up for Rookie of the Year.

Lastly, Kacper Przybylko up for Comeback Player of the Year.

Ex-Union midfielder Fabian Herbers will be back with the Chicago Fire next season.

Nashville SC is already starting a youth academy.

Here are the rest of the MLS awards finalists.

Which playoff teams have the most pressure?

World

South Koreans can’t watch their own national team play in North Korea.

Women in Iran finally got to attend a soccer match.

Will the USMNT be facing a record crowd in Canada?

The USWNT have not named their new head coach yet.

I wouldn’t call Sergio Ramos the “king” of international soccer.

  1. Correct the link to the South Korea article. It takes you to Nashville Youth Academy.

  2. Weird that Kacper is up for the Comeback Player rather than the Newcomer Award. I know he signed with the U near the end of last season, but I felt his signing was intended to get him in with the club early with an eye towards this season.

Not sure Aaronson deserves rookie of the year this year, but he’s the reason I believe in this team long term. No matter what we should be a playoff team next year, but imagine BA growing into the #10, which means a new DP could be a striker or winger, depending on what formation we go with long term. KP, BA, and a new DP leading the attack. Exciting to think about.

But I did read it’s the 4th straight year the Union have had a Rookie of the Year finalist… but haven’t won on yet. I assume this is true…
