  1. Anyone know how Aaronson played in the Homegrown game?

  2. Re: Chicago Fire. is it really that bad? is anyone from NY/NJ Metrostars still crying since RBNY?
i dunno. i grew up during the great tumult of hockey franchises relocating in the ’90s for more attractive markets. after Hartford, Quebec and Winnipeg lost their teams, each one of those tells a different story: Carolina gleefully trots out the old Whalers jerseys. Quebec has somehow gone what seems like an eternity without a franchise, and Winnipeg got a new Jets franchise, albeit, slicker. you get to keep your history (Winnipeg and Hartford cannot), you get to keep your team, with what seems like a smart move, and you’ll get to rock your old Fire gear on Nostalgic Nights in 10 years.

    • I think it’s a big mistake to change the logo and name. They’re both great. We don’t need any more City FCs. I think it’s smart to move into the city proper, but don’t go generic with the name.

  3. had a feeling Jill Ellis would step down as USWNT coach. she’s done it all and there are other national teams in need of a leader. Pia Sundhage just got a new job. good luck to the next coach who can manage the talent and the egos.

    • She’s had two WCs as head coach plus the years with Pia before that. That’s an eternity as a NT coach. Honestly I would have been fine with her running another cycle, but it’s probably time to get some fresh ideas coming in.
      .
It’s not going to be an easy job as the rest of the world is catching up to the US.
      .
I just hope that USSF gets their act together and doesn’t waste time going through their process. They want to get a GM in first, then the coach – that’s a lot to do in a small window. With the Olympics coming up, the new coach will need to get some games in to get their system up and running. The MNT took way too long to get Stewart/Berhalter. Here’s hoping they don’t drag their feet with the WNT…

      • John P. O'Donnell Jr. says:

I would love to see a team like Inter Miami hire Jill Ellis as a head coach. Imagine the publicity it would bring to the league. Imagine the team willingness to spend money would make it an attractive job and if she is successful how it would benefit the woman’s game.

  4. Old Soccer Coach says:

worth commenting in conjunction with the USL meetings that USLC no longer lists Chicago as an future expansion side, only San Diego and Oakland.
    .
Also, that the next two MLS expansion teams are both east of the Mississippi.
Both are coming in next year. MLS’s schedule has to expand, if everyone continues to play everyone, and geography says that either Nashville or Chicago join the Western Conference.

  5. Zizouisgod says:

My guess is that the Seoul law firm that filed that Ronaldo lawsuit probably has a Bird Law practice.
