News roundup: Steel lose, USMNT win, USWNT vs Spain today

Philadelphia Union 

In his 100th game for the club, James Chambers became Steel’s all-time scorer. The Steel fell 2-1 to John McCarthy (Lord Helmet) and the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Andrew Wooten will be available starting July 9th for the Union.

Sunday was Jim Curtin’s birthday! “Reflect back” on his time with the Union so far.

MLS

MLS is back! Portland crushed Houston 4-0. FC Dallas defeated Toronto FC (who were without Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore) 3-0.

World Cup

England advanced to face Norway, but did Cameroon’s reactions go to far?

France needed extra time to top Brazil 2-1.

The USWNT play Spain today at 12 in the Round of 16.

In the first penalty shootout of the World Cup, Norway topped Australia.

The USWNT have not yet conceded, neither have the Germans.

Gold Cup 

The USMNT got some revenge, defeating Trinidad and Tobago 6-0. They have advanced to the quarterfinals.

Curacao got their first win, 1-0 over Honduras.

Andre Blake kept a clean sheet for Jamaica against El Salvador.

Guyana got their goals, but fell to Panama 4-2.

Mexico wins their group, while Canada finishes second to advance.

Copa America 

Brazil buried Peru 5-0 in the only Friday match.

Argentina and Messi finally get a win, 2-0 over Qatar.

Venezuela secured 2nd in their group with a 3-1 win over Bolivia.

Colombia completed a perfect group stage, getting a 1-0 win over Paraguay.

      I think Ilsinho would be fun to watch in the All Star game setting and he is getting a lot of pub this season, with the super-sub stuff… kind of a shame he won’t be there. But no one else making it (other than Blake), really doesn’t bother me much

    Cameroon’s actions on the field weren’t great but England’s coach had no business making the comments that he made. He should be worrying about his own team and let others worry about the other team.
    .
    Trinidad and Tobago may have been the team to officially knock the US out of the 2018 World Cup but the real reason the US didn’t make it was losing at home to Costa Rica and Mexico.
