The USWNT defeated Chile 3-0 yesterday. Easily could’ve been 7-0, if not for Christiane Endler.

In the US group, Sweden defeated Thailand 5-1. The US faces Sweden Thursday to decide the group.

Here are all the teams that have already advanced to the Round of 16.

There are 4 matches today. Spain, Germany and hosts France are all in action.

Followed by a 7-0 Mexican rout of Cuba.

Yesterday, Haiti came back to defeat Bermuda 2-1. Nicaragua fell to Costa Rica 4-0.

A depleted USMNT play tomorrow night against Guyana.

Copa America

Argentina needs a new game-plan (one that is not Messi does everything).

Brazil opened the tournament with a 3-0 over Bolivia.

And Uruguay easily put away Ecuador 4-0.

Venezuela and Peru played to a 0-0 draw.

  1. Andy Muenz says:

Looks like there’s one former Union player available in the Copa America (although he didn’t play in his team’s first match) and that Blake is the only one in the Gold Cup with Union ties.

There are three former Philadelphia Independence players in the World Cup.

  2. does anyone know anything about andrew wooten? would this be something worth getting excited about?

Sounds like he’s going to Chicago… so it doesn’t matter. From what I have read, he was/is scoring a ton for a German 2nd division team. He’s a 29 year old German-American, so no international spot needed, and he’d be a free transfer come June 30. The German connection (I think he was a teammate of Kascper at one point too) and the free transfer made everyone think he was coming here. I read on Twitter yesterday (I think it was), that Chicago is the destination.

      • I don’t buy the Chicago rumor. The only references I’ve seen have pointed back to one tweet that when translated appears to be pure conjecture.

Yes, Nikolic said he wants to return to Hungary in the future. So what. Union’s Sporting Director went on record saying that something was in the works and was traveling to Europe. That is better evidence, in my opinion.

  3. Christiane Endler was entertaining to watch. Incredible athleticism. Can not fault her for goals allowed. The ones she didn’t — including the pro psych-out on Lloyd’s PK — were impressive. Shame we won’t see her in knockout rounds
