In pictures: D.C. United 2-1 Philadelphia Union

PSP photographer Marjorie Elzey traveled to Audi Field in Washington, DC to capture the Philadelphia Union taking on DC United in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

Wayne Rooney is disappointed that Matt Freese was able to stop his shot on goal.

Anthony Fontana finally puts one into the “onion bag,” giving the Union a 1-0 lead in extra time.  Later on Twitter it was said he wanted to give his father a goal for his birthday — happy birthday Mr. Fontana!

 

DC United celebrates the winning goal

The lead was short lived. D.C. celebrates one of their two extra-time goals.

 

Mark McKenzie left it all on the field and laid in the pouring rain after the final whistle.

 

Union manager Jim Curtin came over to thank the Union supporters who traveled to Audi Field.
