  1. Unnion signed Charlie Lyon from the MLS GK pool since they have less than 2 active GKs on the roster. Anybody know anything about him? Here’s hoping that Andre and Freese get back soon, but good luck to the stopgap.

    • 27 years old. Impressive college stats but has never has made an MLS appearance since being drafted in 2015. Mostly played in USL for Sounders 2 and Orange County FC.

      • Thanks. I wish him well. I hope that, if he is used, it is for clean up duty right now.

      • Old Soccer Coach says:

Sounders 2 were not very successful, before the move to Tacoma.
        .
Orange County depended on the year, some good some bad.

    • Old Soccer Coach says:

Be interesting to see which Academy keeper starts tonight for Bethlehem in DC. Tomas Romero, Kris Shakes, or Brady McSwain from West Chester, PA.

  2. The Truth says:

Corey Burke can’t come back to the USA b/c of visa issues. Unbelievable.

    • Old Soccer Coach says:

      Happens.
      .
In 2016 Bethlehem could not take Bolu Akinyode to Toronto because of international travel paperwork issues.
      .
The complexities of crossing international borders affect all kinds of teams.
      .
Think how USLC West side Rio Grande Valley FC would be affected by a significant change to border crossing policies, since their whole business plan is predicated on the Rio Grande being easily crossable for fans from Mexico.

    • OneManWolfpack says:

Like #FreeKeon all over again. Crazy about Burke. Hope nothing bad (like criminally) happened that is keeping him there. Also Freese is out 4-6 weeks

  3. OneManWolfpack says:

It’s been said so many times I am sure… but that Messi free kick was freakin bonkers. So amazing we got to watch a player like that.

  4. Needs to be mentioned that former Union striker Connor Casey is the interim coach of the Rapids. Last time we saw him he was ejected from a match within minutes of coming on for, I think it was Columbus. He ran into Rosenberry and saw straight red. One of the funniest moments in a Union match I can remember.

    • pragmatist says:

And now he manages Rosenberry. Think they’ll have a few laughs about that? Or has all the humor left Colorado these days?

    • HopkinsMD says:

Yeah, that’s a vivid memory. I remember Keegan’s facial expression and body language making me laugh. He couldn’t believe it.

    • I’m sure they both find it funny. And yes, I vividly remember Rosenberry’s face after Casey was shown the card. I did love that guy when he played here. Too bad we didn’t get him a couple years earlier.

    • Don’t forget Casey was also ejected as a Rapid assistant coach against the Union in 2017 after Calvert was given a second yellow for reentering the field from the endline instead of the sideline.
      .
I’m doubting that anyone has ever been ejected against the same team as a player, assistant, and head coach before. We could witness history!

  5. John P. O'Donnell Jr. says:

I was impressed with Colorado’s GM going on Extratime and talking about the coaching change and how he’s the man at the top so it’s his fault.
    .
Although Tata had a breakthrough for foreign managers in MLS, this is clearly another setback. Between firing the coach and the Athletic story calling out the owner as the worst in MLS….not exactly a great week for the Rapids.
