Philadelphia Union

Warren Creavalle speaks about what it means to help lead Guyana to their first-ever Gold Cup birth.

Here are the storylines the Union’s opponent, FC Cincinnati, are looking at ahead of Saturday’s match.

Meanwhile, Cinci’s hot start could make MLS expansion history.

Bethlehem Steel

ICYMI: Tim Jones on Bethlehem Steel’s attendance problem. As in, there is none.

MLS

MLS says “Soccer For All” even though commissioner Don Garber refuses to condemn actual, for-real Nazis infiltrating New York City FC supporters groups. Cool, cool, cool. I guess “all” means violent racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic scumbags too.

Five bold statements about teams ahead of Week 5.

A Tennessee judge dismissed a lawsuit fighting Nashville SC’s stadium project.

LAFC’s Steven Beitashour is the latest victim of the disciplinary committee for getting handsy versus Salt Lake.

U.S. Soccer

Clint Dempsey was honored by the Texas legislature for his incredible career. Dope, Deuce.

Christian Pulisic is the latest national teamer to catch the friendly injury bug. He has been diagnosed with a right quad strain. Woof.

CONCACAF

A great look at El Tri under familiar new manager Tata Martino.

“Soccer for All” is a gimmick. MLS is a gimmick. US Soccer holds the umbrella.
    .
    Hollow words that mean nothing.
    .
    Truth.

  4. Why is Guyana not in CONMEBOL?

    • History, and competitiveness I would guess.
      .
The three Guyanas were all colonies far longer than the rest of South America, by my highly fallible memory.

In other news…. USMNT has a dead generation it carries around like an albatross.
    .
el Tri has the same vibrant generation of brilliantly skilled, creative and technical players– now….. with a world class manager.
    .
Not going to lie, I am pulling for Mexico to take the next step on the world stage they desperately need to take. Hope Tata infuses the belief in them which seems to waiver at the most critical of moments in the Round of 8.

    • John O'Donnell says:

      Hmm ….loyalty or something?

      • el Pachyderm says:

I have no problem rooting for Mexico unless the US is playing them.
        .
        a problem for you?

    • I always wish well for Mexico, too. Feel like they deserve to be more successful than they have been. I have often been told that this is wrong because they are our mortal footballing foes. I just can’t work up that kind of animosity for a national team. I’ll save that ill will for NYC nazis.
