World Cup: Predictions

World Cup Predictions: The final results

As we sadly bid farewell to what was an exceedingly entertaining World Cup, we must also wrap up the furious competition to win what will now be known as the Kinkead Cup, after its first ever winner, Kevin Kinkead, who saw off the threat of Jonathan Tannenwald, and the late-charging Mike Servedio, to take the grand prize.

It was a log jam at fourth place, with Antoine Hoppenot, Jimmy McLaughlin, Dave Zeitlin and Matt DeGeorge all finishing just off the podium.

And at the bottom, we find Greg Orlandini occupying the position he has held since some questionable picks in the first round of the group stage proved to be ominous foreshadowing for the rest of the tournament.

In the team competition, despite being anchored by Orlandini’s performance (sorry buddy), the Media Oracles ran away with top spot. Finishing twelve points off the lead, the Union Clairvoyants can take solace in eking out a one point victory over the PSP Prognosticators.

So, until the Women’s World Cup kicks off in 2015, we are pulling the plug here at PSP’s Prediction Headquarters.

See you then.

  1. You came in last?!?!? For shame, guys.

  2. I’d mock Kerith Gabriel for coming in next-to-last, barely ahead of Greg. But then I’d have to mock Dan for being tied with KG. And, well, I *like* Dan…

  3. old soccer coach says:

    Thanks for the fun!

  4. Congrats to Kevin and the Media Oracles. Maybe add a Fan’s View Forecasters/Fortune Tellers team next year? Would be fun to see how a team of readers/fans stacks up against the experts.

    • Not next year (unless you do the women’s tournament)….but whenever the next major pick-worthy tournament falls.

      • Eli Pearlman-Storch says:

We will be doing next year and the Women’s World Cup for sure. That’s a great idea. The Supporter Savants? Thanks!

      • I like the Supporter Savants. That works for me.

  5. I won the PSP World Cup Predictions contest, and all I got was this t-shirt
