Philadelphia Union

Amobi Okugo is training with SC Freiburg after a strong showing at the Olympic camp in England.

Brent Latham reports Amobi Okugo played and performed well with the first team at the US Olympic camp. Other former U-20 studs like Perry Kitchen of DC United weren’t so lucky. Latham also reports that Freddy Adu is battling Mixx Diskerud, Dilly Duka and Juan Agudelo for a shot at the creative role in the Olympic squad.

Zach Pfeffer is also in Germany, training with the U19s and U23s of Hoffenheim.

Okugo and Pfeffer are on the list of 18 players going on a Generation Adidas tour of Holland. I know what you’re thinking: Pfeffer isn’t Generation Adidas! He’s currently a “tentative inclusion” according to Stephen Goff, so make of that what you will. That’s all the info we have right now. Zac MacMath, Jack McInerney and Danny Mwanga are also on the as-of-yet unofficial roster.

The Union have confirmed last week’s confirmation that they have added 3 minority investors.

Peter Nowak has nothing but praise for Keon Daniel and says the visa issue is still being worked out.

MLS

Didier Drogba’s agent says his client could go to the LA Galaxy if they offer the most money. Basically, he could go anywhere provided he gets paid.

In another indication that the Montreal Impact would be the jerky guy in your fantasy soccer league, Seth Sinovic is returning to Sporing KC with Davy Arnaud and allocation money going the other way. It’s looking more and more like the Impact were picking for trade value. So far the Impact have fleeced Chivas and squeezed money out of Sporting KC. And Houston is still fuming about that Brian Ching thing, although they should just send the Impact some videos of Ching on the national team and I’m sure he’d be released in hours.

Sporting Kansas City have re-signed goalie Jimmy Nielsen, presumably so he can continue to be freaking ridiculous against the Union. That guy was freaking ridiculous in 2011.

NYRB “defender” Tim Ream is training with West Brom and Bolton. Bolton are bracing to lose defender Gary Cahill in the transfer window so if Ream was going to get a loan deal that would be the place.

Beckham and the Galaxies are having trouble filling seats as they embark on another tour of Asia. This could be the last time Beckham appears in a Galaxy jersey, a fact that has sent ticket prices and ambivalence soaring.

Speaking of the Galaxy, they sent Donovan Ricketts to Montreal. Yawn.

WPS

ESPN-W runs down the big questions facing WPS, including an explanation of why losing US Soccer’s Division 1 status would seriously jeopardize the league’s continued existence. Basically, it means the league wouldn’t be recognized by FIFA and players could losei international team eligibility.

US

USMNT left back Edgar Castillo completed a transfer to Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente, becoming the team’s first winter signing. Castillo has been all over the Mexican league over the past two years, with a spell at Club America followed by loan spells at Tigres, San Luis and Puebla.

Elsewhere

CONCACAF has the fourth most EPL goals of the FIFA regions. Clint Dempsey has 3, just behind Javy Hernandez for top regional representative.
