In case you missed it, the Sons of Ben are hosting a charity event to Help Kick Hunger. They’ve raised a lot of money and collected a lot of food in the past to help out some people in need, so if you can, get involved. Here’s the info. Philadelphia Union players will be at the Dec. 4 fundraiser.

The New England Revolution signed a 15-year-old player, Diego Fagundez, the youngest person signed to an MLS contract since Freddy Adu.

Eric Wynalda may be in the running to coach Chivas USA. Awesome. Should be the first entertaining thing from this club in years. If only they could rename and move to San Diego, things would be perfect.

Pires took a lot of heat after saying he wanted to play someplace beautiful, not Philadelphia, after engaging in talks to join the Union. Now he’s going to play in beautiful — Birmingham, England. Yes, the heart of the industrial revolution in Britain. Seriously.

The U.S. men’s national team will play Chile in Los Angeles this January. Chile’s coach Marcelo Bielsa has quit the team on principal because he won’t work with the newly elected soccer association president, prompting protests against the new regime.   1. I tried to make some snarky remark about Birgmingham being a shithole but it actually looks kind of nice. And apparently it’s been shortlisted as the first UK city of culture for 2013.

    But will he get off the bench? With Young, Agbonlohor, and now Albrighton in his position I think he’ll be left lamenting what could have been in Philly…
