Quirky Keepers and Sarcastic Celebrations

Philadelphia might not be competitive in this year’s College Cup. But the Stony Brook University Seawolves are in the tournament thanks to red shirt freshman Anthony Rogic. Here he is in the America East Conference semifinal game against the University of Hartford. That’s Hartford keeper Nenad Cudic doing the cartwheels. Rogic is the one making sure he can still touch the cross bar.  I’ve seen keepers try and play mind games with shooters during PKs, but never like this.  For my money, Cudic does a pretty decent cartwheel.

The Seawolves would win 0-0 (3-2) to advance to the final, where they defeated the University of Maryland Baltimore County 2-0, with Rogic stopping a PK in the 37th minute (still using his crossbar touch).

The Seawolves started the year winless in their first 12 games but have gone unbeaten in their last 7.  Stony Brook (6-9-4) takes on Brown University (10-2-5) in Providence on Thursday in first round action.  Go Wolves.
