KYW Philly Soccer Show: Qualified!

The USA is going to Brazil!

The US National team booked its ticket to next year’s World Cup with a 2-0 win over dreaded rivals Mexico — with some help from a 2-2 draw between Honduras and Panama.

Now, the KYW Philly Soccer Show breaks it all down for you.

In the latest episode, KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch are joined by philly.com‘s Jonathan Tannenwald to talk about the win.

The Yanks were depleted going into the match. With midfield general Michael Bradley out with an ankle sprain and three other players lost due to suspension, coach Jürgen Klinsmann had to draw from his bench to get the win.

The discussion then turns to the Union, whose offense continues to falter.

With only one goal in the last four games and no wins in the same span, the team will look to get back on track Saturday against an equally struggling Houston Dynamo team, who are coming off a 4-1 thrashing at home against New York Red Bulls.

  1. There was a point near the end of Nowak’s regime where the aura of anger, sadness and hopelessness was so palpable that I envisioned that there was no way anyone could do this podcast sober.

I would like to say that it was it was horrible to listen to, but it wasn’t. It was fascinating.

Each week I would I would listen to to you two fall further and further into an abyss of despair. It was like if Sarte wrote a serialized play about 2 people trapped in a room with nothing but shitty beer, forced to watch a horrible soccer club with no means of escape, diversion or ending it all.

    It was mesmorizing.

It also was way better than spending 11 bucks to watch an arthouse movie about people with cancer.

Today I believe John Hackworth have sent you spiraling into that abyss once more.

  2. Lets follow the lesson of this podcast and think about the national team instead of the Union. Let’s look at this over and over
