Philadelphia Union leading goalscorer Jack McInerney is the guest on the latest installment of the KYW Philly Soccer Show.

McInerney has had a whirlwind year, not only leading the team with ten goals, but also getting his first call up to the senior U.S. National Team and making an appearance with the MLS All Star team last week. The young forward, who turned 21 earlier this week, talks about the experience he gained practicing with the national team and getting back in rhythm with the Union after being away at the Gold Cup.

Greg and Mike then discuss the biggest news in MLS since David Beckham signed with LA Galaxy in 2007: the return to the league of Clint Dempsey. The U.S. National Team captain joined the Seattle Sounders last weekend from English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur, signing for $8 million a year.

Dempsey spent more than six years in England, including a 17 goal season with Fulham. With the move, he becomes the highest paid player in the league.

Greg and Mike talk about the impact this signing has for the league and its players.

Guys, The [Play] button above is not working for me. Need a fix? I did head over to iTunes, heard the interview, and, well done. Furthermore, Jack seems like a pretty reasonable guy. C. #doop

    • Thanks for listening! Jack isn’t chatty by nature, but this is the most comfortable sounding he has ever been when coming on the show. Gave some really good insight into some things they are doing in training.
